"Interactive Presentations' Definitive LIFESTYLE Guide to (over 5,000) Australian Webs
for last month:
(Based on audited figure of 150,000 hits over a two week period in July - and over 600,000 hits over an extended period
figures supplied by Pegasus and available on request to clients of Global Web Builders).

FACT: This definitive guide is now a Major Australian Gateway for the global and Australian Internet community.

July - August 1995:
Major interest in Australia is shown by the US (non-educational) and commercial sites - accounting to well over 50% of the total number of hits during this two week survey period.
A large degree of interest is shown by US Educational sites (10%).
This interest is largely accounted for by the lifestyle focus of this guide - with all Australian school and related school project webs being accessible through one location.
During this survey period a large number of responses were received to various electronic forms provided for our clients. Norfolk Island, for example, have received daily *enquiries from new potential travellers mainly based in the US.
The responses received by our clients (represented by over 100 hits per week for even the smallest clients) is largely due to the prominent position (ie listed in the guide but also linked directly to the guide's home page).
* Extract Sunday Mail article dd 17th September 1995 - Computer section page 101: Headline "Web boosts island charm".
Quote: "Since the island went online about a month ago, outside response has been "overwhelming", said Monica Anderson, deputy speaker of the island's legislative assembly."

September 1995:
Similar trends to the previous pie chart, but pleasing increases in the number of hits from South East Asian countries. In particular hits from Singapore and Japan are dramatically increasing as Internet marketing to these countries starts to reap rewards.

Regional and Major Areas:

July - August 1995:
North America, based on the survey period, accounts for well over 50% of the total number of hits (over 75,000 in a two week period). This figure includes the relevant Commercial sites which are shown as a separate listing at 30% of the total hits. Only 3% or about 5,000 hits were received from Asian sites outside Australia, however, the hits from this area has increased dramatically over the last week as the guide is "discovered".
We are particularly pleased with the overall number of "commercial" hits received during the survey period. This reflects an excellent interest in the business section of the guide - which now lists and rates nearly 1,000 Australian business webs.

September 1995:
Figures reflect Internet marketing strategy in attracting the Asia-Pacific market starting to create the regional swing.
Excellent results from countries such as Japan, Singapore and Malaysia with an over 300% increase in hits during the last four weeks surveyed.

Comments and Direction:
Best Web Sites
There is an explosion of excellent service based web sites on the Internet. Most of the services offered are professional with
Internet access providers coming in a close second.

Weak Web Sites
It is truley remarkable that not one of the top 50 Australian public companies has an Internet presence of any note. There is a small
Qantas and Ansett site (both major Australian airlines..) but little else.

Electronic Shopping
There is no more fickle an audience than "surfers" on the Internet. This new media provides the opportunity to window shop in cyberspace. Very few sites currently produce good results in the area of electronic product sales. A good guide to
getting the Net working for you demonstrates that a nice presentation on its own will not reap results.
