Erindale College is an exciting concept in the provision of Year 11/12 education in the Australian Capital Territory. The College is unique in that it was built as a 'college in the community'. As such it shares a common roof with adjoining facilities of an excellent standard - a sports hall, theatre, squash courts, gymnasium and indoor swimming pool. It also operates a joint library with the Public Library Service.
This is a bi-lingual site. Telopea Park School was founded in 1923, making it one of the oldest schools in Canberra, Australia's national capital. It takes its name from its location marked as Telopea Park on Walter Burley Griffin's prize winning plan for a national capital. Its emblem is the burning red telopea speciosissima, commonly known as the waratah. The school's motto spectans orietia solis lumina is a quotation from Virgil's Aeneid which means looking twoards the rising sun.
LYNEHAM HIGH SCHOOL Named after Sir William Lyne (1844 - 1913), Premier of NSW and Minister for Home Affairs in the first government after Federation, Lyneham High School was one of the last built by the Department of the Interior. It opened in January 1959 and catered for students from First Year to Matriculation Level, following the NSW Curricula.
