A historic agreement promising billions of dollars in extra exports for Australia has been settled, paving the way for free trade throughout Asia by early next century.
Maybe now the politicians can concentrate on getting the striking waterside workers back to work so that these valueable exports can actually physically occur.
Political:
Turns out that the much (Labor) maligned Commissioner of the Penny Easton affair, Kenneth Marks is actually a Labor sympathiser not a Liberal stooge as the Labor
heirarchy have been claiming. Lying (MCPE) Health Minister Lawrence will
now apparently be chardged with perjury if the findings of the commission so recommends.
Business:
Strike wave engulfgs Australian ports because of the CRA dispute with waterside workers taking another of their enjoyable long, long weekends at the expense
of every decent hard working Australian man, woman and child.
Sport:
News Limited's Super League are going in to battle against the traditional (Kerry Packer - Channel 9 TV influenced) Australian Rugby League (ARL). Seems like both
sides are working on a compromise - something the ARL would never have considered only 6 months ago..
Social:
A report shows that smoking and lack of exercise are putting adolescent Australian girls at risk of heart disease in later life. A survey found that between 28% and 31% of girls aged
between 15 and 17 in New South Wales smoke.
Personal trivia:
Wonderful light rains fell most of yesterday and today is one of those cloudy, still days. Our little 5 year old boy Alexander became the youngest Australian to have built his own web on the Internet.
