The City of Ipswich was the first Australian city to go "live" on the Internet, being "plugged in" in December 1994. The city's very comprehensive community based web provides you with information about the City, its Council and its people. It has a special focus on education and the seniors in the community. A lively octogerian, Hilda des Arts, runs the seniors net. Her Email is: gilda@gil.ipswichcity.qld.gov.au The web also provides valuable information on the City's heritage, travel and tourist information about the area, selected government information and an idiots guide to using the Internet. An active subscriber group keep the issues of the community in focus through the gil.users news group.
A small but evolving site, the city is located in the state of Victoria.. one worth watching in the future.
The port City of Devonport is located in Tasmania. This small site is still under development but does give some detail on its main trade, the tourist industry.
