Mrs Pratt's views:

As the candidate for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Mrs Pratt would like to take this opportunity to introduce herself and give you the chance to get an early insight into her opinions.

Mrs Pratt says that it is hard to condense her life into such a small space but offers the following background.

She was born in Coffs Harbour, completed her schooling there before commencing nursing at Grafton. She married Anthony Pratt at Grafton and raised three children there.

Her eldest daughter, Sharon, is now 24 and is expected to make Mrs Pratt a happy grandmother in June.

Her two sons Anthony and Michael aged 23 and 21 respectively are doing what all boys of that age do - test the boundaries of life.

Mrs Pratt’s husband Tony has owned and operated his own business, Pratt Air Services, since 1979. As the local crop sprayers Mr and Mrs Pratt are more than aware of the difficulties of the “man on the land”.

Mrs Pratt is now 43 years of age and has faced up to the challenges that life has thrown at her in the past. She has worked as a cleaner, a waitress, post office worker, computer operator, newspaper correspondent, office manager and, more recently, owned her own business, Dollys Coffee Lounge in Kingaroy for the last five years.

In her spare time she has been a Guide Leader, State Emergency volunteer, Blood Bank aide and in 1989 was made a Justice of the Peace.

Mrs Pratt has lived as far south as the Victorian border, been broiled on the coast, frozen in Guyra, baked in Queensland central west and revelled in the Burnett. Mrs Pratt has travelled a little to New Zealand and North America but has yet to find anywhere to equal Kingaroy.

She says that we all know that there is a thread that ties all businesses together and when one suffers all suffer. It was during her years at Dollys that the true extent of the areas plight was brought to her attention. Kingaroy used to be a rich production area but now the farming sector is diminishing, small businesses are closing and the resultant unemployment is left as the major growth industry in the area.

Mrs Pratt has very strong views about the waste of resources, the rorting of the system and the inefficiencies portrayed by both the State and Federal Governments. The behaviour displayed in the Parliamentary broadcasts by our representatives makes her embarrassed to think that she voted for them and she shudders to think of the example they set for our children. Mrs Pratt says that she has had enough... she has decided to “throw her hat into the ring”.

Mrs Pratt does not see herself in the guise of the present day politician. She says she will not lower herself to the gutter. If that is the kind of politician that the people of Barambah want.. then she says count her out. If the people of Barambah want want someone who will conduct themselves with integrity, honesty and who will endeavour to bring back a little dignity to the office of the politician, then she is ready to fight for voters in this area. Mrs Pratt believes there are a lot more people like you who are totally fed up with the present government.

Pauline Hanson has set the example by “Saying it like it is” and a lot of people don’t like it. Too bad. All of us have to get out there and spread the news that One Nation is here and that the party means to rebuild the wealth and pride of the state of Queensland and of all Australia too. (She says that seven generations of her family have built this country but it is taking just one to sell it our from under us).

Not only Australia, but other nations of the world will be watching the ballot boxes at the next State and Federal elections so, Mrs Pratt says, ensure you have your say, don’t waste your vote, don’t think that its not going to make any difference. This time the government need to hear your message.

Mrs Pratt hopes to make the rounds in the Kingaroy region and meet as many of the residents as possible. There is a lot of information that you have that will help us work together to win this state election in Barambah. Mrs Pratt wants you to ring her and speak to her. She says that as a team we will get this area growing again. As Pauline says, we can’t do it alone. It is not going to be easy but the voters of Barambah can do it. “We can show them just how fed up we are.”

“Too many times we have been lied to, too many times we’ve been told there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I haven’t seen it.... have you? Let’s not wait anymore let’s march down the tunnel and light the thing ourselves.”
