Introduction
There is something
most Australians seem to agree with: the media coverage of Pauline Hanson
and the One Nation Party has not been up to standard. Because of this,
Media-Watch Interactive
was represented at the Dandenong launch of One Nation. Some of our previous
investigations had exposed dodgy
media coverage and MWI's presence at the event had a dual function.
First, I was there to gather facts and later compare them with the media
reports. Second, I was to keep a watchful eye on the journalists there,
mostly looking for unethical behaviour like photographers or TV crews asking
people to pose for the camera.
As it turned out, the media coverage was so bad I decided to publish this report. It is a personal account of the events and it occasionally places the emphasis on misreported aspects of One Nation launches, including the political affiliation of the protesters.
