Outside, the protest continues

Outside, a police presence of well over 100 is keeping a watchful eye on proceedings. There are several protests rolled into one. For many, it is a forum for protesting against the current government and the issues raised in the chanting are not directly connected to One Nation.

Among others, the Howard Ten points Wik plan is taking a hammering. Land rights, East Timor, Sole Parents, the "stolen generation" all were issues raised at the protest. It seems it was more of a general purpose protest than an opposition to One nation.

The majority of placards paraded at the protest belong to socialist organisations or publications. One of them calls for the closure of One Nation, a legally formed political organisation. Some people never learn the lessons of history.
