Just before 10am Tuesday 24th March 1998.
Caroline (C): Welcome Scott.
SB: Caroline how are you going.
C: Fine.
SB: Good. Look, I would like to respond to Peter Charlton and his comments on the MAI. In particular I would like to make it very clear to your listeners that the MAI is part of a secret set of international treaties being established on our behalf by bureaucrats.
C: Scott if we are all talking about it how come its a secret.
SB: Well quite simply because it was uncovered on the Internet. I will give you an example of how international treaties are kept secret. I believe that very few of your listeners would have heard of the FSIA which stands for the Foreign Services Industry Agreement. Now the FSIA was signed in 1995 by Australia. It is basically the linchpin behind which Australian banks have been sold off to foreigners. The result of that can be seen with the loss of 40,000 jobs over the last few years.
It is claimed by Austrade that 86% of our banking industry is owned by foreigners largely because of the FSIA, which just like the MAI is an international treaty.
C: Where did you get those figures from?
SB: The 86%?
C: Yes
SB: From Austrade.
C: Oh I see. Well stay tuned Scott. Because we are doing quite a bit on the MAI both the pros and cons.
SB: Can I just say also that Peter Charlton got all his research material from my web site. I have a web site on the Internet. I have been following the MAI for over a year for Pauline Hanson. I was amazed because of the way he selectively took material from that web site to present the MAI in a very good light.
