Welcome to the oldest Australian daily newspaper on the Internet.
The Australian National News of the Day.
We charge a small monthly fee for access to the news
archives.
The current news of the day will, however, remain
free.
This on-line paper is unique. Unlike traditional
papers it:
-
largely reports on, and links to, supporting on-line pages on topics not
seen in the mainstream dailies (on-line or hard copy).
-
carries an archive of over 1,000 web pages - representing the daily
news and views of an Aussie since October 1995. (It is the oldest
on-line daily in Australia).
-
carries a large amount of feedback from Australians on topical issues.
-
is independent of any influence of either Murdoch or Packer or their
associates.
-
has an archive now recognised by the National Library of
Australia and stored by the Smithsonian Institution in the USA.
Subscribing to The Australian National News of the Day gives you automatic access to The Strategy - another monthly Australian on-line independent newspaper.
Although the current on-line daily paper will remain free, the
on-line search and
daily date
based archive will only be available to paying subscribers. The
monthly charge being US$10. Secure payment
can be made by credit card.
Why are we charging?
This charge has been brought in to cover the growing administration costs
related to supporting this daily newspaper and the associated archive. Costs
such as storage, time, administration and related research.
We believe that the Australian National News of the
Day has played ,and will continue to play, an important role in the
Australian media.
We wish to be able to dedicate more time to this important independent source
of on-line news. This will mean greater overheads, larger storage costs for
us, but the development of more comprehensive archives, for you the reader.
We are committed to offering you an alternative
view to that given in Australia's current News Limited dominated monopoly.
To do this we need to be able to expand this service for the
benefit of contributing subscribers. To achieve this we need to charge.
We will be looking at tying up with other independent on-line newspapers
to provide you with a unique insight into what is really happening in
Australia and how that effects the man in the street in this wonderful
country of ours.
Past highpoints of the Australian National News
