The protest marshals fight for glory after the arrests.

What followed was a most amusing test of wills with Ian Rintoul, the anti-democratic leader of the International Socialist Organisation, and a member of the "thug files" trying to stop the young marshal from drawing the crowd away from the barricade when tensions were running high after the arrests.

At one point this no-hoper looked on as the crowd clapped at the speech being given from the other side of the street and the mood started to quieten. This young fellow was the silent hero of that hour.

Eventually the thug (Rintoul) at the barricade outside the Festival Hall won by chanting "Hey, hey, ho, ho, Pauline Hanson has to go", but the split had had its effect as Rintoul confirmed when he said, "We had our chance to take over the meeting but its too late now."

Rintoul was later arrested on a number of charges by the police.
