How important is media control?

For the media barons it is the base of their power in Australia. From this base they control what Australians hear, see and believe....

We only know about the Kroger/Packer deal because Murdoch was on the wrong side of the fence in this deal.

From this base comes their influence over the politicians as they can literally make or break any politician in the country.... depending on how the politician treats the media baron.

A fallacy in Australia is that there is any credibility or ethics in media reporting.

Anyone who threatens the base of the media baron's power is publicly vilified and discredited.
