An average politician spent Au$61,502 on chauffer services alone during the last financial year with the chauffers earning between Au$28,000 and Au$71,000.
Federal politicians get a large range of free and priviledged transport entitlements which include free air and rail travel and free taxi rides.
Over and above this the politicians pay Au$508 a year for a government maintained vehicle for their private use.
Currently there is an even more ludicrous example of "padding one's own pocket" with 13 Ipswich City Councillors earning at least Au$60,000 per annum, put on top of that a motor vehicle for business and private use, computer, mobile phone, very generous travel incentives (such as cash in your pocket - even if you go to Brisbane just 40 kilometres away), superannuation etc... and for the approx 70,000 ratepayers - who foot the bill one of the highest rates in the country.

Had reason to travel to Brisbane yesterday to collect a debt ruled in our favour by the Small Claims Tribunal. The cheques were handed over by Mr Truscott who parted after the hand-over (which was several weeks overdue and had resulted in an arrest warrant being requested) in the style to which I guess he is accustomed with the passing comment, "Mercenary prick".
A case of the pot calling the kettle black me thinks.
We had the old carpet pulled out last week. Andersen Carpets replace it with Peerless Carpet similarly priced but far superior that carries a ten year "no questions asked" warranty. Little lesson to be learnt here by yours truly.
