Independent Member for Oxley Pauline Hanson yesterday claimed in Parliament that the Australian media were guilty of distorting what she said and misreporting the facts. She also had a go at both the Liberal and Labor Parties for not standing up to issues that concern the average Australian.
She said that despite the political and other pressures being brought upon her she would not change her stance.
In today's News Limited owned Courier Mail the misreporting continues, with an article on page four talking about Aboriginal elder Pat Thompson (from Ipswich) and saying:
"When she heard claims shortly after the elections that Ms Hanson was not going to represent the Aboriginal people, Ms Thompson felt the need to speak out."
Now it is widely acknowledged that Ms Hanson never said that and has, in fact, put it on record that she is happy to represent the Aboriginal people in her electorate.
The article continues:

" 'Her comments were ill-informed and have led to numerous people making crank calls to Aboriginal organisations looking for car loans and other "Aboriginal Benefits" which just don't exist'."
