International:

Michael and Lindy Chaimberlain wanted the third inquest into their daughter, Azaria's, death to be the final chapter in the 15 year old saga. Azaria was taken by a dingo at Ayers Rock in 1980 and the third inquest is currently being held at Darwin, Northern Territory. Lindy Chaimberlain was paid Au$900,000 after being incorrectly jailed for 3 years after initially being found guilty of her daughter's murder.

Political:

Health Minister Carmen Lying (MCPE) Lawrence could be made bankrupt as the Democrats and Green parties have joined the Liberals in the Senate in refusing to pay part of her legal bills amounting to Au$250,000. She has even attempted, as a very highly paid minister, to wangle her way around the expense by claiming Legal Aid. What next we say, what next?

Business:

According to a recent report Australia is losing the world productivity race. If business and government could lift Australia's productivity levels to those of the USA benefits worth Au$37 billion would flow to consumers in the form of lower prices and higher living standards.

Sport:

Old golfing friends Peter Senior and Greg Norman seem to have lost their kinmanship after Senior's comments about Norman doing more to support the Australian golfing circuit. Now it appears Senior was quoted out of context.

Social:

According to the latest report Australians are a transient population with more than 40% moving house every 5 years. But a big shift to new fringe suburbs was increasing the risk of creating rich ands poor suburbs.

Personal trivia:

Had a fabulous day yesterday. Joined my Mun and Vivienne on the deck overlooking the river at lunchtime and spent about an hour just watching the parrots, Correllas, Sulphur Crested's, Lorikeets and pink and greys put on a show for us. It was better than any wildlife television program and of course it was happening in real time.
