Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating, Foreign Minister Senator Evans and Indonesian Foreign Minister
Ali Alitas and Prime Minister Suharto took part in the signing of a historic security treaty between the two nations yesterday at Suharto's magnificent palace.
Political:
The historic signing has obviously done wonders for Keating's profile as a statesman. The latest poll shows that he enters the Christmas break with a massive
8% popularity lead. This after trailing in the last poll. The Liberal party still have it over Labor with a 6% lead 47% to 41%.
Business:
Australian international BHP flashed some of its enormous pool of money around yesterday offering to buy Tubemakers for Au$590 million. The bid for 51% values the
steel fabricator at Au$1.13 billion.
Sport:
It is a real shame to see the once great West Indian cricket team being humiliated so badly. Yesterday they were bundled out for only 92 runs in a match against a student team.
Social:
A story with a difference at this Christmas time. The small community of Beverley in the West Australian wheat belt have had a "paranormal experience" involving the
appearance of an outline of the head of Jesus on a bare rock.. To the community it has been a Christmas miracle - at least financially even though debate still rages
about its authenticity. Even T-shirts are being sold for the image that looks remarkably similar to the image of Jesus found in that popular software package - Corel Draw!
Personal trivia:
We take on two young staff today to help with the workload. The company is entering an interesting period and looks forward to 1996 with anticipation of great things to
come.
