International:

Memories are long in politics. A few years ago Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating called Malaysian Prime Minister Mahatir Mohammed a "recalcitrant" Well yesterday the Malaysian Prime Minister told Australia that it had no chance of joining the exclusive ASEAN club unless it changed its views and attitudes towards its Asian neighbours. He said that ASEAN might re-consider when Australia has a 70% Asian population. Now that could be construed as a racist comment in itself..

Political:

In the Queensland state seat of Mundingburra the Labor party have dumped their sitting member, Kieth Davies, who was displaced by a court ruling after winning the seat at the last state election earlier this year by only 16 votes. Seems like Davies is not too happy and has vowed to dump a bucket on Labor in the lead up to the by election on February 3rd for this crucial seat If Labor lose this seat it is highly likely that another state election will need to be called as the balance of power will be held by an independent, Liz Cunningham. Davies has secured the support of controversial promoter Harry M Miller to dump on Labor. Miller said "If I were a member of the Queensland government I'd be feelinh like taking a few weeks holiday. Life is never dull in politics.

Business:

Seems like more than 600 building companies in Queensland are to be audited by the Queensland Building Services Authority. This follows a building slump and the collapse of another building compaines in this state.

Sport:

International Australian golfer Greg Norman has been in the news lately with rides at mach 2 in a supersionic US F14. Take offs and landings from an aircraft carrier and the latest bizarre wishes to go below the ice cap in the Antartic and leading a canoe expedition in the Amazon! Get back to golf Greg this country needs you.

Social:

A new food consumption survey has shown that Australians have atrocious eating habits, Cigarettes, soft drink, dog food and coffee are the nations most purchased supermarket items. Thats fine but I hope the right animals eat the dog food!

Personal trivia:

If I got excited about the weather yesterday well I guess I got to do it again today. Another beaut day in paradise. Mother nature gave us a bit of a show just now at about 5am with a short sharp storm creating a peachy coloured reflection across the sky, the river and the valley as the sun rose. We had a nice and needed bit of rain as well as strident lightening bolts clapping through the sky for about twenty minutes.
