International:

That media baron, Rupert Murdoch visits Australia (News Limited's home) and launches a stinging attack against Kerry Packer the other Aussie media baron saying that the Australian Rugby League cannot survive. (News Limited's Foxtel poached most of the ARL's good players during this season).

Political:

Cheryl Kernot, the leader of the small but powerful Democrat party, warns the heavyweights (Labor and Liberal parties) to release key policies before Christmas.

Business:

Murdoch says that News Ltd faces a tough financial year with News Corp shares dropping 21 c to Au$6.75.

Sport:

Australia wipes out South Africa at the World Rugby Cup.

Social:

Seems like Australia is to have a new image on its 20 cent coin. You see our Foreign Minister Gareth Evans would love to head up the UN and has been not to subtle about his ambitions in the past. So guess who made the statement about our new coin... over to you Gareth: "I hope that when people see the UN logo on something as commonplace and at the same time as central to their lives as the money they carry, they will feel encouraged to reflect for a moment on some of the work the UN does."

Personal trivia:

There were heavy mists in the valley this morning. We live in a hilly area situated west of Brisbane and East of Ipswich. In heavy traffic it takes us about 30 minutes to reach Brisbane 20 km away and about 15 minutes to reach Ipswich about 13 km away. As you can gather the roads get busy but not like peak hour for some of our global visitors. Our double story house is built on what we call "acreage" (larger than normal block of land). My business is built on a network of telecommuters who, like me, work from home.
