International:

It appears that one of our world-record holding swimmers, Samantha Riley, is causing quite a stir in Norway - being pursued by television and magazines over her romance with a Norwegian speed skater - Johan Koss. Sam is holidaying ay Koss' home at the moment.

Political:

Queensland is in turmoil with the validity of decision that have and are being made by the state government being questioned following the court's decision to anull the result in the Mundingburra electorate. In the interim the Labor MP in that seat, Ken Davies, has resigned. That electorate faces a possible 3 elections (including a state and federal election if the Liberal Party take the seat). One never knows, they might just find themselves showered with promises and gifts from political well-wishers from afar.

Business:

Looks like another "soft" Christmas coming up with sales by retailers not reaching their expected levels.

Sport:

An outstanding innings by Michael Slater in Australia's first innings against Sri Lanka has seen the Australian's move to 350 for 2 wickets with Slater not out on 185.

Social:

More than 120 people have been killed in Queendsland this year alone because of drink-driving. A sorry statistic that never seems to get better

Personal trivia:

Spent most of the day attacking the virulent outbreak of long grass on our river bank. It is amazing what a concoction of hot weather and good rains can do to the nature of grass... The old weed eater was busy and had to be filled several times in the raging battle that ensued. Yes, luckily I won and the bank looks quite cultured again now!
