International:

In another Pauline Hanson beat-up the Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commissioner yesterday said that it would consider fining her for remarks she allegedly made soon after being elected to represent the people of Oxley.

Ms Hanson has refused to appear before the Commission which her principal adviser describes as having "no judgement (that) they (can) make (that) can be upheld by a court"...

Her alleged remarks were reported by News Limited's The Australian newspaper which finds it very hard to say anything bordering on good about Ms Hanson.

Reporter: "So you're fighting for the white community generally."

Hanson: "Yeah, look the white community, the immigrants, the Italians, Greeks whoever it really doesn't matter, you know, anyone apart from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders."

If the Commission tried to impose a fine on Ms Hanson it would be a first - but there again Ms Hanson is quite used to the vagaries of Australia's bureaucracy and the inherent corruption that seems to fester in various parts of it.

Oldfield said yesterday, "She (Ms Hanson) will not credit their ability to conduct such unnecessary proceedings. There is nothing for her to answer to and there is no need to appear. My understanding is that no judgement they make can be upheld by a court."

He said that Ms Hanson's comment had been "taken out of context".

The High Court has upheld an argument that the Commission, as a tribunal, did not have the power to make enforceable decisions.

Political:

It appears that Prime Minister John Howard's decision to live in Sydney instead of Canberra has cost Australian tax payers over Au$1 million and climbing.

In the year to March this year over Au$250,000 has been spent on capital improvements to his Sydney office, bringing the annual bill up to about Au$650,000. An upgrade of security to Kirribilli House has cost taxpayers Au$386,500 and renovations to the building nearly Au$100,000.

Labor frontbencher Mark Latham requested the figures after Howard had earlier said that his decision to live in Sydney would result in savings to tax payers.

"This started out with the Prime Minister assuring Parliament it was cheaper for the taxpayer for him to live in and have his office in Sydney," Latham said.

"Clearly the renovations and running costs of a second major full-time prime ministerial office shows that there is an additional cost to the tax payer. The Prime Minister should not be trying to suggest otherwise.

Mr Howard has two offices and two homes - The Lodge is where he stays in Canberra and Kirribilli which he chose as his family home.

"Until Mr Howard took it over, Kirribilli House was available for foreign dignitaries to stay in while on official visits."

Remember the media "hoo ha" about Hanson spending 30 cents to fax the Ipswich City Council?

Meanwhile Senator Mal Colston, the ex-Labor stalwart who has since been tried by his colleagues and is now under investigation for alleged travel rorts, has formed his own party.

The Australian Electoral Commission confirmed yesterday that despite 13 objections Colston's application had been successful.

The party has just three members, Mal Colston, his wife Dawn and Bruce Smith of Robina Quays.

The party, Queensland First, overcame the problem of requiring 500 members as a sitting member can be enough to meet registration requirements.

Subject: Comments on Australian News of the Day

I read a letter in the Daily Telegraph saying "Why would Ms Hanson want to sue JJJ for changing young peoples minds on her views by playing that song." He went on to say "Does she think she has the youth vote".

Well of course she hasn't got the youth vote with young Australians going to school and getting the Anti One Nation party view drummed into their heads by the Moronic left wing teachers. I remember when I was at school 5 years ago, the teachers always said that the Labor party is the only way to go, The liberals will ruin the country.

I ask when the three R's had a P for politics added to it.
