I phoned the West End Migrant Centre at 4.45pm yesterday to be told that the hall had been booked by a Phil Dickinson but he had not bothered to pick up the keys and the meeting was now off.
John Howard has joined Pauline Hanson's call for the terrorist's visa application to be reviewed as he gave the wrong name and fudged his criminal record to gain entry.
Last night Ervin said that he would fight extradition from the country. It was good to see moderate Aboriginal leaders distancing themselves from Ervin and saying that he should be deported.
The home of Victoria's Broad Left (Left Link) (see You Say below), Victoria, was the battleground for the launch of another branch of Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party. A sizeable percentage of the protesters, now clearly linked with extremist minority groups such as the Black Panther movement which through Left Link are linked to the Australian Labor Party, are testing the democratic right of people to have their say in this country. (Interesting that it takes only six links from the Australian Labor Party home page and just two from the ACTU home page to access the radical links on the Left Link home page.)
At the Dandenong Civic Centre last night an estimated 1,000 protesters gathered outside throwing eggs, water balloons and vegetables at guests to the launch.
The mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong, Greg Harris, played a minor role in trying to stop the launch by organising a "multicultural celebration" paid for by rate payers. "We wanted to be seen by the media and the public as having a mature response," he said. "These are the mums and dads who said, 'We disapprove of what's been happening with all this publicity with Pauline Hanson and we wanted the response but we didn't want to be seen as reactionaries'."
But the mayor's vigil backfired with less than 100 "mums and dads" attending the candle light vigil just around the corner from where the radical protesters vented their anger - going to the lengths of kicking one Pauline Hanson supporter to the ground. A new low in the annals of Australian democracy.
About 200 guests braved the rowdy scenes outside to hear Victorian convenor of the party, Andrew Carne, speak.
We expect to have a full report on the launch in the next few days.
For an incisive report on how Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party was misreported at the Adelaide launch by the mainstream media, this link is a must.

I am repulsed that you are willing to host Pauline Hansons one nation
party. There are many more people out there who find Ms Hansons'
statements and proposals (if any!) sickening and extremely detrimental
to Australias future. I would have thought your business would be aiming
to attract intelligent Australians rather than the semi-literate,
ignorant sods who support her.
Shame!

Legal Aid claims it has found a loophole which could force AVCO to pay back tens of millions of dollars in interest to the poor and impoverished in the Australian community who make up a large percentage of their customers.
The case alleges that AVCO breached consumer protection laws by failing to reveal stamp duty on consumer credit insurance on loan contracts.
AVCO management have been lying low since Legal Aid made its actions public.
The series is now level at 1 all. Australian captain Mark Taylor, and opening batsman, contributed just 1 run in the two innings.
