The latest, called "The Sydney Left" is run out of the University of Technology in Sydney on a very unstable server. What do they teach our kids at University? It is a bit of a worry....
If and when you do get to see it you will be greeted by a large sickle as found on the Russian flag.
(See the Left Link message below...)
The Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) whose reputation as the political watchdog has been severely damaged by the interference of Queensland State Premier Rob Borbidge was dealt another blow yesterday when a CJC enquiry, which has already cost the state tax payers over Au$11 million was closed down by the Supreme Court.
The Heiner Enquiry into the shredding of court documents by the Goss Government has already questioned the CJC in the past, but this time the Queensland coalition government really outsmarted itself.
It is all too complicated to but summarise here. Let me just say that last year an inquiry by the CJC into the Queensland government by Ken Carruthers (the Carruthers inquiry) and chief investigator Mark Le Grand was turning up something very useful - the job it was paid to do... when Borbidge called for an enquiry into the CJC calling it "biased" (in favour of Labor).
He put a couple of new faces in, Peter Connolly QC and Kevin Ryan QC to investigate the Carruthers CJC inquiry.
The Connolly Ryan inquiry started finding some questionable bias... with the Supreme Court upholding a request by Mark Le Grand to close this inquiry down because of political bias.
Its finding, summarised below, show just how entrenched and powerful the deception by political powerbrokers is:
Ken Carruther's wife said, "He's (Ken) maintaining his silence, but his reaction was that it's a victory for the rule of law".
The CJC Chairman, Frank Clair, said that he was happy with the Supreme Court's decision.
The case was brought by Sydney tobacco merchants Walter Hammond and Associates and Ngo Ngo Ha and Sokheing Lim who run the "tax free" cigarette shop.
The High Court ruled 4-3 in their favour.
Subject: LL:Support the bans on Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party
[I am posting this to the list as it appears to be announcing a campaign
in its final paragraph. However, Leftlink is not a discussion list; so if
people on this list wish to debate the merits of the various strategies
for combatting Hanson and her racist One Nation Party, I suggest they do
so off the list or on Interlink, the Sydney based Left discussion list
that is moderated by Alister Air.

======================
Support the bans on Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party.
Anti-racists should use every opportunity to harass and hinder Pauline
Hanson's One Nation Party. Their meetings are to organise racist
actions. If we let them organise without opposition this strengthens
their movement.
Racism can only be defeated politically. As part of our
political campaign to defeat racism and the racists we should make it
hard for them to organise.
The rowdy, exciting, large anti-Hanson demonstrations (in Dandenong,
Newcastle, Geelong, etc) have given confidence to anti-racists. They
have helped build the next demonstration.
They send a loud clear message to the racists.
Importantly they have also sent a powerful message to the victims of
racism: "you are not alone". Tens of thousands want to struggle against
racism in Australia.
In Mildura last week a One Nation party meeting went ahead without any
visible opposition. Every racist would have cheered the local paper
headline "Party launch success".
Local councils have banned or restricted access to Pauline Hanson's One
Nation Party because of the campaigns by the anti-racist movement. It
is because thousands have taken to the streets. This is totally
different to Howard government's attempts to deport Lorenzo Ervin.
To argue the anti-racist actions of thousands is the same as the
anti-democratic action of the government is to dismiss the action of
ordinary people. To suggest they are both the same attacks on freedom
of political expression and assembly is wrong. Why even bother
demonstrating?
Anti-racist activists who want to encourage Councils to
restrict and ban Hanson intend to continue campaigning. People
interested in joining this campaign should contact Michael Thomson on
