Stokes referred to reports that the government had offered Murdoch, the chairman of News Limited, a bigger slice of Channel 7 in exchange for his support in Packer's acquisition of Fairfax.
"Who the hell does the Prime Minister think he's representing? For the Prime Minister to play King-maker revisits the darkest days of the Labor Party's deal-making with its mates," Stokes told Rueters.
"He has made a commitment... done a deal with Packer," Stokes said. "It's obviously to deliver Fairfax to Packer - it shows a disgraceful disregard for public interest."
Stokes repeated his claims on ABC Radio yesterday saying that the federal government's media policies were "jaundiced" and ignored the wishes of the community.
Howard defended himself admitting that he had spoken to Murdoch but that no deal had been made with Packer, saying, "At no stage was there any suggestion put that there was some trade-off between changing cross-media rules and lifting foreign ownership limits in television.
"What was put to me was 'Would we change the television laws?' And we said, 'Well would you surrender some newspaper interests so that the overall level of foreign ownership in the media did not go up?' Nothing came of that (suggestion)."
Last night Kerry Stokes stood by his comments and called for a "full public inquiry" into media ownership laws.
Interesting that the negative media coverage of Pauline Hanson and One Nation continues apace whilst the Liberal and labor parties have gone into panic mode because of her increasing support from mainstream Australians.
The political parties have now resorted to direct slanging matches with the likes of Liberal Victorian State Premier Jeff Kennett saying, "One Nation must be stopped in the national interest".
In the national interest... who's interest? With about 50% of the Australian population now believed to be supporting One Nation the only interest that would be served in stopping One Nation would be those of the bureaucrats and politicans within the established political parties.
Ms Hanson is visiting Perth this weekend and has encountered some problems in getting a suitable venue. The Burswood Casino refused to host Ms Hanson's public address admitting later this was because of their concern for the safety of their patrons. Now McDonalds have turned her down for similar reasons.
It is a sick society when the mainstream media actively engage in distortion of the truth against the wishes of a sizeable proportion of the Australian population who support One Nation. There is a total lack of coverage of the defamatory and disgusting actions of Ms Hanson's radical opponents. This side of the story is discreetly glossed over, not countenancing a mention - regardless of the outrage, yet a small slip, or statement that can be twisted or construed to be negative to One Nation is pounced on with relish and abandon by many of these "ethical" Australian editors, chiefs-of-staff and journalists. The evidence of this appears in the newspapers day after day yet the politicians, who are supposed to represent the people, put coals in the fire with inflammatory statements like those by those of Kennett above and those of the Leader of the Labor opposition, Kim Beazley, who said that Ms Hanson's arguments were "absolute nonsense" which needed to be exposed...
This reverse racism is probably one of the main reasons that the public have had enough and are throwing their weight behind Ms Hanson. To quote Abraham Lincoln, "You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time".
In other news the limited edition book by Pauline Hanson THE TRUTH has now sold out. The 1,000 copies (of which we hold one of two only hard copies and a soft covered copy) will now become a collectors item... but a new book is planned according to One Nation's National Director David Ettridge.
Waiting in the wings are 1,400 other East Timorese refugees who will now claim the right to stay in Australia following the decision.
Mr Jong's solicitor, Liz Biok said, "The court has decided Australia must meet it international obligations towards East Timorese people.
"It's crucially important that these people stay in Australia because they have niowhere else to go."
The Minister for Immigration, Mr Ruddock, "I would find it extraordinary if a developed western country like Portugal refused to have them."
Legal aid solicitors were yesterday confident they could prove in the tribunal that Portugal would not protect the East Timorese people and that therefore they should remain in Australia.
Let us remember that Legal Aid is so short of funds in Australia that it cannot afford to defend tax-paying Australians - who land up going to jail for alleged petty crime.... and here we have illegal immigrants or refugees soaking up millions of the limited legal aid dollars available.
What the hell is going on in this country!

Dear Sir,
Thank you for publishing my e-mail to your page verbatim. It is also nice to see that not all pro-Hanson pages are run by close minded buffoons. I am sorry for underestimating you earlier in my posting and hope I have not slandered you in any way. It is great to see free speech being practiced on your site and hope you keep it up. ALthough I still do not agree with your views about the One Nation Party, at least you are willing to listen to other points of view, and that is what makes a democracy.

That "little" person has returned.... we apologise in advance for the language.

unsolicitated hatemail and death threats I am going to...
Instigate a boycott of Global Web Builders by telling EVERYBODY
and posting to EVERY relevant newsgroup and writing to your clients
and urging as EVERYONE to do the same.
You'll be fucking sorry you ever tried to intimidate me.

In fact this will be the last post on him - as he is obviously a glory/attention seeker and we have more important issue to concentrate on. Goodbye Mr Nguyen... good bye.
Have a good one.
