[MURDER BY MEDIA, DEATH OF DEMOCRACY IN AUSTRALIA]

from an Aussie's viewpoint on Australia's first daily Internet newspaper.
Since October 1995

The new working class poor.

When I came to this country in 1986 I clearly recall there was a big debate going on about whether Australia was on its way to becoming a "banana republic"... Paul Keating seemed to think so... and so did the media.

This was at a time when Australia's balance of payments debt was about Au$40 billion - having doubled from just a few years before when Labor (unfortunately) gained power.

These figures and Keating's comments are extremely important because our "financial stability" that we enjoy as a country today, according to Prime Minister John Howard and Treasurer Peter Costello, is a clear scam - a pipe dream.

What happened between 1986 and 1999 to allow Australia to drag itself away from becoming a "banana republic"?

Was it careful management or a workforce which changed its work ethic? Unfortunately neither statement is true.

Australia is a banana republic today. It is totally beholden to the multinationals who conservatively control 80% of every dollar spent in this country - and they pay little or no tax while taking their profits, unfettered, off shore to a safer monetary haven - skyrocketing our foreign debt.

You see the Australian dollar is now floating in cloud cookoo-land. Costello sold off half Australia's gold reserves just a year ago removing what chance we ever had of backing our currency with real value. The Australian dollar is now being protected by the multinationals - not by our Reserve Bank - which is way out of its depth. Our "Australian" banks - through the FSIA - are now controlled by Rockefeller interests in Wall street, New York.

In reality we are today nothing more than a financial feifdom of Wall Street. They have us by the proverbial "short and curlies".

So how did this happen? Quite simply the critical bureaucracies in Australia like the Federal Reserve are little more than a vehicle for powerbrokers to exercise their financial might over the will of the Australian people. They do this all the time, secretly and without any involvement by the people most affected by their decision - the Australian people. Of course, the recent failure of the MAI to get up has been a minor stub on the toes for these secretive and disgusting agents of greed.

However, look no further than the issue of tax. Here is a clear cut case of fraud by the companies who represent 90% of the ads on your television screens with smiling babies, a mix of multicultural delight and a fanfare of happy families as they push foreign controlled and manufactured products down your throat day after day after day...

The tens of billions of dollars that we have lost over the last ten years through tax avoidance by companies like News Limited has created a big hole in government revenues and as the money goes offshore it increases our foreign debt... the government instead of rectifying the problem have put the screws on by privatising assets like the Commonwealth Bank... to make up the shortfall and by introducing a Goods and Services Tax which will further impoverish the average Australian - while not taxing the profits of the multinationals.

The trouble is we are running out of assets to sell and today our foreign debt is well on its way to Au$300 billion and growing poverty is becoming  a real burden on our society. This is making us a basketcase.

Twenty years ago before Keating and Hawke first screwed things up by deregulating the Australian banking industry Australia was the lucky country. Today this country is just a shell, a resource, controlled by the multinationals. The control that they have over us is no better expressed than that foreign debt figure - because if our government today does not buckle to the wishes of the IMF - portrayed by the media as good financial management - then they will pull the plug.

When this happens Australia's financial woes will make those of Brazil appear like a minor monetary hiccup.

Quite clearly we are living on borrowed time - which brings me to our standard of living. Not content with raping and pillaging this country the top bureaucrats (with their 40% increases) are now pushing for the minimum award rate to be scrapped at a time when the Labor Party are pushing for an increase in immigration.

I am not making a prediction when I tell you that the sale of Australia to multinationals who have used their unpaid Australian taxes to acquire these assets is leading us to one thing and that is a standard of living which will be on the level playing field of our Asian neighbours. Immigrants and refugees from Asia have grown up in appalling conditions - today many of these people live in Australia earning very low wages while they do the unemployed in Australia out of jobs.

There are countries protected from such a fate. The US is an obvious one - with the country gearing up to ensure that its population's standard of living is protected.

We must all join the fight against the treachery that the Laboral parties have embarked on in the sale of this country to overseas interests. I will continue to do so because I am proud to be an Australian and I believe that we can fight back even now when we stand on the precipice of disaster... If you can't join the fight then you should leave the "lucky country" and take your children where they will have a future...

In the article below you will read about overpopulation and despair - remember this: Wall Street see us as no different to any other asset - if we do not perform, we will be punished. Once the plug is pulled Australians will "wake up" when it is too late and we as a people are no better off than those in Vietnam.

Population and the immigration debate...

Earth Day - The Beginning, David Brower declared:

"That's the first thing to do - start controlling the population in affluent white America, where a child born to a white American will use about 50 times the resources of a child born in the black ghetto." ALBERT GORE, Vice-President of the United States: As we reach a new stage of human history, there is a new urgency to tackle world population questions. The margin for error is shrinking as the rapid growth of population is combined with huge and unsustainable levels of consumption in the developed countries, powerful new tools for exploiting the earth and each other, and a "wilful refusal to take responsibility for the future consequences of the choices we make".

A real change has occurred during the last several years in the way most people understand the population question. At Cairo, there is a new and very widely shared consensus that no single solution is likely to be sufficient. It is now agreed that the whole range of solutions, if implemented simultaneously for a sufficient length of time, can reliably be expected to bring about a systemic lowering of birth and death rates and stabilization of population.

*************************************************************************

PENG PEIYUN, Minister of the State Family Planning Commission of China: Consensus has been achieved on the need to consider population in the context of development. Despite tangible progress, the world still faces severe challenges, with a net increase of 90 million people each year. The number of people living in poverty is growing, while pollution continues to be caused by irrational consumption patterns. Population growth rates must be reduced, poverty must be eliminated and the environment must be protected in order to achieve sustainable development. "This is a sacred mission that history has endowed us with, and it is also a common goal that brings us together today."

*******************************************************************************

The Programme of Action, adopted on 13 September in Cairo, contains a central recommendation of making reproductive health care accessible to all couples and individuals as part of primary health care by the year 2015. Reproductive health care is a holistic approach to women's health that includes family-planning counselling, education and services for pre-natal care, assisted deliveries, post-natalcare and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS.

"The concept of reproductive health put forward by the Programme of Action represents a change in thinking about how we look at fertility and women's health. Reproductive health means fertility reduction for the health of the individual and the family

*****************************************************************

GEORGE SAITOTI, Vice-President and Minister for Planning and National Development of Kenya: The Conference will recommend measures to manage our populations beneficially and ways to meaningfully develop and transform the economies of developing countries, without eroding the ethical and moral fibre of our societies. One of the most important factors in the future economic development of Africa and developing countries is the rate of population growth. However, a cut in the rate of population growth is not a sufficient condition, nor indeed a necessary one, for development to occur in the less developed countries. Other obstacles to development, such as lack of resources, should be addressed at the same time.

In countries where primary medical services are poor and illiteracy high, achievement of low long-term population growth rates can only be possible where death rates are high or downright coercive practices are employed. Kenya does not support coercive population policies and believes in policies that respect people's rights. "I disagree with the simplistic argument that fertility control will solve the 'problems' of poverty and environmental degradation caused by population growth." The concern of this view is only the achievement of population targets, and runs the risk of the application of physical, economic or intellectual coercion. Such coercive policies will do little to improve the quality of life for the poor and women in both the developed and less developed countries. But Kenya will continue to educate the public on the advantages of small families while, at the same time, improving the status and the rights of women.

Each year, the world's population grows by almost 90 million. By the year 2050, it should be between 7.9 and 11.5 billion. Currently almost 80 per cent of the overall population lives in the least developed world. The question is: how can one adhere to the Charter's demand for social progress when every day 377,000 new human beings are born? In light of such inescapable realities, indifference and inaction are crimes. National, regional and international population policies must be supported. Wars, disasters, famine and disease must not be the regulators of the world's demographic growth.

The population problem facing the world today cannot be properly solved in the demographic dimensions alone. It should be dealt with in close relation to the problems of social, economic and cultural development, which should aim at raising the individual's capacities and participation in production and consumption. Efforts must be intensified to upgrade educational and health services and pay more attention to the major role of women in building a family, raising children, and implementing programmes relevant to population. Improving women's conditions, especially in developing countries, is the cornerstone of any demographic policy.

**********************************************************

Also stressing patterns of consumption, James Gustave Speth, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), stated:

"It's time to stop riding the merry-go-round of denial. Population growth in the developing world isn't the main threat to the planet's sustainability. The biggest threat comes from population growth and resource consumption in the industrialized world."

Overconsumption, perhaps even more than over-population, was a disaster-in-the-making which compromised the environment and decreased the quality of life, the Sierra Club told the Preparatory Committee for the International Conference on Population and Development this morning as it concluded its general discussion, having heard from a total of 101 speakers in three days. "We must face our accusers from the South who say that our overconsumption, not their population, is the main cause of environmental degradation on the planet", the representative of that non-governmental organization continued. As needless consumption was a learned behaviour, people's perceptions and values could and must be altered. Practical tools on how to reduce consumption were needed. Governments could assist citizens by appropriately altering tax laws and subsidies."

ROBERT SASSONE, of the American Life League, said that a major population catastrophe was an inevitability. Energy was becoming cheaper and more available and since 1960, developing countries' diets had improved by more than 500 calories. Equally, global warming and ozone depletion were less serious than had been formerly perceived. Soon, however, there would be a horrendous depopulation problem in the entire world. The rate of growth of world population would be cut by half by the 2020-2025 period. That was the true nature of the population crisis that awaited the world.

*********************************************************************

LIONEL ALEXANDER HURST (Antigua and Barbuda): "Less than 20 per cent of the world's population lives in developed countries; yet, this 20 per cent consumes more than 80 per cent of the goods and services produced by the earth's resources." A developed country of approximately 30 million consumes more of everything than do the 650 million people on the continent of Africa. Humanity must therefore decide whether to proceed with a lopsided distribution of incomes and possibilities along a North-South divide, or to adopt an equitable global distribution with a smaller global population consuming less. It must make a conscious effort to proceed along a path not previously trodden—a path taking into account the many moral dimensions of the diverse human family. "The human race has arrived at a juncture in history which demands non-coercive, self-imposed denial." There must be an abandonment of antiquated views on reproduction

Antigua and Barbuda has joined with 18 other Caribbean countries to help plan the future by supporting the draft programme of action. Small Caribbean island States have so far solved their overpopulation problem by emigration. That avenue is now closing and population growth must be limited while development continues. If a minimum standard of living is to be assured for every human being in every Caribbean country, then the number of humans cannot grow interminably. The islands' resources, like the planet's, are limited. Family planning must become central to development policies. In Antigua and Barbuda one specific policy has focused on continuing education to young women compelled by pregnancy to drop out of school. Bringing these young women back to school has been a top priority.

John Pasquarelli

Is he the bloke who played the lolly-pop sucking detective on TV? I've seen him interviewed on 'two-bit' daytime shows but he only gets about 2-3 minutes. Maybe he should do the lolly-pop thing again and he might get a crack at a half hour soapy.

Good onya Johnny P. You're a real legend. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!!

I think that the comments posted on yr 'Web Pg' yesterday by Mr Pasquarelli deserve a response

>The Australian Story on Pauline Hanson was the ABC in compassionate
>mode and It treated her in a very objective way. My criticism is

Itz about time isn't it?

>My criticism is that Pauline is still in 'whinge' mode-like a lot of
>her rusted on supporters who continually demonstrate their ignorance
>of political history and the system. Peter Andren, the remaining

Whoa there! I also saw the programme. I did not detect any 'whinging'; then again, perhaps our definitions of 'whinging' differ. What Mrs Hanson stated about her unfair treatment by the media(irrespective of any other issues) was 100% correct. The facts speak for themselves. Compare Mrs Hanson's treatment with the treatment of the Laboral Party pollies. Anyone who says she was treated exactly the same, has their head up a horse's rear orifice!

**Recommended reading: 'Murder by Media' by Scott Balson. [check the on-line references if there's a dispute]

**Further recommended reading:'Among the Barbarians' by Paul Sheehan.

>genuine independent in the federal parliament didn't have to worry
>much about the preferential system as he INCREASED his primary vote
>by 11% and notched up the best result at the last election. Pauline

**Was Andren's electorate gerrymandered out of existence?
**Isn't it a fact that Mrs Hanson's vote was significantly greater than that of her nearest rival?
**Isn't it a fact that _virtually all_ political parties/organisations deliberately conspired to prefernce against her?
**Wasn't the Electoral Act _changed_ on the very eve of the election so as to _forcibly_ direct preferences to non-preferred parties?
**How much blatantly negative and untrue media attention did Andren get? &c &c &c &c &c!

>Hanson's primary vote slipped away in Blair compared with her 1996
>results in Oxley when she almost won on the first count.

Naturally...given the blatant gerrymandering. What was the actual decrease in her vote? I doubt it stacks up against the _savaging_ the Coalition received[!]

>She demonstrates an appalling lack of political 'savvy' given her
>time in Canberra-just like Oldfield and Hill not bothering to read
>and digest the handbook given to candidates by the AEC.

[i]How do you define political 'savvy'?;
[ii]Cite examples of native political 'savvy' displayed by Howard, Beazley, Kernot,whoever that didn't involve the benevolent and compliant ministrations of a sympathetic media;
[iii]Has Mrs Hanson ever pretended to be anything more than she is?;
[iv]How has the AEC handbook got any bearing on the election result? Aren't election results determined in the weeks and months preceding an election campaign and by numerous other factors(not the least of which is media attention?..exmpl: the media 'blackout' on Mr Graeme Campbell and the Australia First Party)?

>The people who didn't want to join ON but were prepared to vote for
>it are not interested in feeling sorry for people who had the chance
>of a lifetime but blew it. They are NOT interested in conspiracy
>theories, red lights or whingers. They want someone to pick up the
>baton that Pauline Hanson dropped after the maiden speech.

Who knows what the people who voted for ONP are interested in or not interested in? Have you asked every one of them? If not: on what evidence do you make that statement? What's a conspiracy theory? How do you define that? Is everything that has happened in Australian(and world) politics/events over the last fifty years the result of sheer chance and accident?

How did Mrs Hanson 'drop the baton' after her maiden speech?

Point out exactly how her actions/statements after her maiden speech contradicted anything in that speech or her basic philosophy[?] Did Mrs Hanson ever say that she was the only one who could ever lead One Nation Party?

What _exactly_ is to stop someone _else_ filling Mrs Hanson's shoes? (maybe better than she could. Once again, she never claimed to be anything other than she was. Yet, with her limitations and lack of formal [tertiary] education, she did a _damn good and gutsy_ job of waking up the wankers who think they have a God-given right to rule this country and control what people say and think. Would any of the feather-bedders inhabiting Canberra even have had the _guts_ to do the same? If an ex-fish&chip shop lady can do that much, the mind boggles at what a determined, erudite, experienced and educated individual with the same determination could accomplish!)

>Another matter of accountability. Cheyenne MacLeod is Pauline's
>personal assistant and general factotum. Who pays her salary?

Who cares?

**Has Mr Pasquarelli got anything constructive to say that might contribute to the well-being of this country's future and/or the upkeep and maintenance of its traditional lifestyle? Or are all his comments going to be negative, ad hominem, sour grapes and(dare one say!) whinging!!!!**

cheers!

Jimbo and Lenin

Hmmm! Very interesting post from Jimbo in yesterday's "Letters".

Quite rightly, it has been shown that One Nation will never win by playing the Labourals game. The Movers & Shakers who control our Governments will always have the power to change the rules to suit themselves. (Incidentally, Bruce Baird recently upset them and therefore had his butt kicked severely.)

Maybe it is time to look at alternative ways to combat the destruction of Australia.

Immigration

Kennet and the Labor Party seem to want to increase immigration, while in Perth there is a Dr. Reckor who is concerned about the impact that immigration would have on the environment, that he suggests limiting one child per family, as in China.

I believe that with the increase in population, that you increase problems such as unemployment which in turn causes an increase in crime and other problems.

Are these politicians planning to make us equal to other countries like Bangladesh by lowering our standard of living to the same levels as theirs?

Peter.

Congratulations

Hi, just discovered your site and it is so good to see!

There are those who would like to think every ON supporter is a pensioner, I am 28 myself, and I am constantly getting raised eyebrows and strange looks for my beliefs!

What is young though? is 28 too old? GOD FORBID!

Surely our Principals have been misled.

They have instructed us to write to you to seek confirmation of the currently circulating intelligence to the effect that, just as the Liberal Minister for Industrial Relations, the Hon. Peter Reith MHR, and his party are projecting an image of ones who are hell-bent on converting all the workers into part-time/casual employees on pitifully small wages and without the protection of safety standards or discernible award conditions, you and your Party, at least whilst on the Opposition Bench, are intent on visiting a similar scenario on the Upper Middle Classes who currently occupy the roles of Company Directors and senior Company bureaucrats, particularly CEOs.

Australia could not survive as a "prosperous" nation if the members of Boards of Directors and that exclusive club of Chief Executive Officers were denied the right to live lavishly and play unfettered games with OPM (other people's money).

You must assuredly be able to spell out the unreality of such suggestions for change - Corporate Australia needs to have multi-million dollar salary packages to attract overseas experts to the country, or to keep an elite band of people here, to run these enterprises and when the ALP regains the Treasury Benches its silvertails will have no choice but to ensure continuance of the repression of the workers. Proxy votes will still be used to guarantee that the select few enjoy the "cream" whilst the workers and the shareholders receive the "crumbs" - the regulators are irrelevant wimps and are perceived as lacking intestinal fortitude.

Family terrorised in Perth

The sobering implications of the New Univeral Gun Laws were savagely demonstrated in Perth last night when an innocent family were terrorised for hours by a mob of psychopathic louts.

On remonstrating gently with these sociopaths about the noise they were making apparently outside the front gate of the family's house, they were literally invaded by a rampaging mob of these psychopaths, their belongings were stolen or destroyed and their children threatened.

During all of this hours-long ordeal, the constabulary were apparently noticeably absent. Should we be surprised? Our supposed upholders of 'law and order' only make an appearance these days when:
[a] there are fines or money to be collected for their political masters or
[b]gunshots are heard and an opportunity presents itself to again to the bidding of their political string-pullers and confiscate even more firearms from an already almost-disarmed and helpless citizenry.

One wonders:
[a]how obstreperous the behaviour of these cowardly louts would have been if confronted with the business end of an automatic rifle and
[b]how long an army of state, federal and special police would have taken to respond if a LABORAL politican was threatened in a similar manner?!

Are people now to be murdered in their beds by drug-crazed psychopaths because Australia must abide by secret UN treaties and 'laws hatched in foreign capitals' and disarm its populace? How much longer can this garbage be borne? Perhaps erstwhile critics of One Nation Party should focus their attention on isssues such as these, instead of 'whinging' about perceived minor slights?......and ask themselves why the _blatantly_ dictatorial structure of the Laboral Parties does not even permit such questions to be asked??...

.cheers!
