Constitution withdrawn

David Oldfield yesterday agreed to withdraw the proposed plan to put the constitution at the AGM in Sydney next weekend.

The move comes after three One Nation MPs resigned and two others continued to put pressure on him to allow branches more time to discuss the issues raised by the draft constitution.

Bill Feldman was delighted with the move saying, "There were so many things working against it being a good annual general meeting and I think this is a very positive step to regain the credibility that the national executive had."

One of the wavering One Nation MPs, Jeff Knuth, said, "The draft constitution was an insult to our intelligence.

"Any draft will have mistakes, but not be so blatantly absurd to the point where three Members of Parliament would want to quit."

Meanwhile the Queensland State Labor government has moved to remove One Nation's party status following the resignation of the three MPs from the party.

Shreddergate

Background information at this link:

What a surprise. Today we read in The Courier-Mail, just nine years after the fact, that the Goss Cabinet knew that the documents they shredded contained evidence of child abuse.

The Forde inquiry, initiated by One Nation MPs putting pressure on the government, has uncovered fresh documents which implicate the cabinet.

Incidents included the handcuffing of a 12 year old boy to a stormwater grate - and then being left out all night after being told snakes come through it.

Ms Matchett, the then Labor government director general, knew all about this at the time but did not act on the evidence. She is now refusing to respond to the press telling them, through her lawyers, that she knew nothing of the claims.

A confidential department document has blown this theory away, it reads:

"Mr Peter Coyne (the John Oxley manager) stated that certain staff at John Oxley had put that view (that he had acted inappropriately) before the inquiry.

"He cited the handcuffing of children as an example of this and stated he felt he had been badly done by.

"Ms Matchett reiterated for the purpose of this meeting was to discuss Mr Coynes' future career opportunities, not to review the past events at John Oxley.

"She further stated that she was prepared to review the inquiry."

Interesting that The Courier-Mail has chosen today eight years after the event and just one day before Channel 9's Sunday Programme reveals that the entire Goss Cabinet knew about the child abuse revelations in the Heiner Inquiry documents - before they shredded them.

Read how The Courier-Mail's Editorial has deliberately distorted the Shreddergate picture just 24 hours before the Sunday Programme.

What is a populist?

There is probably no clearer demonstration, of late, in the bias of reporting by the Murdoch press than its description of politicians who support "populist" views.

When Pauline Hanson said that she would fight over issues that concerned every day Australians The Courier-Mail led the way in calling this political philosophy as "simplistic" and "populist" with the two being attached in a negative, demeaning way.

Now that the Labor State Premier has copy-catted Hanson's lead and is having conferences and seminars similar to the Hanson juggernaut in 1997 and 1998 - he is called a "visionary populist" by the papers.

So what is the difference?

They are both wanting to listen to and address the issues that concern ordinary Australians... the only difference is that the shallow Beattie can see that Hanson's very real concern about people was a vote winner and now he has jumped on the bandwagon.

But don't try telling The Courier-Mail that because they have just discovered Beattie's vision and thrown in a few more browny points to cement the alliance in the Four Corners of Australia's Trojan Horse.

Australian Story

dear Sir,

I was able to catch "the Australian story" last night and was very happy with the ABC for there great effort in portraying such a warm, caring true Aussie. in recent articles in the media they have limited them selves in not being able to show this side of a truly great woman(and her friends). But you can under stand from their point of view being such rude, arrogant, self centred pigs. I truly believe that "the tall poppy syndrome" effects those people who try to achieve to redeem this country for the people or something along those lines. Pauline it must be extremely difficult being in the top five, but then again being up there they must be taking you seriously. Its such a pity that we have so many blind "liberal-greed-aterians" in this country.

congratulations to Pauline on a truly real life up close and personal interview and also to her children for being there for her.

Then again without family there isnt a lot out there.

yours sincerely
Scott

Australian Story

Scott,

the Australian Story on Pauline Hanson was the ABC in compassionate mode and It treated her in a very objective way. My criticism is that Pauline is still in 'whinge' mode-like a lot of her rusted on supporters who continually demonstrate their ignorance of political history and the system. Peter Andren, the remaining genuine independent in the federal parliament didn't have to worry much about the preferential system as he INCREASED his primary vote by 11% and notched up the best result at the last election. Pauline Hanson's primary vote slipped away in Blair compared with her 1996 results in Oxley when she almost won on the first count. She demonstrates an appalling lack of political 'savvy' given her time in Canberra-just like Oldfield and Hill not bothering to read and digest the handbook given to candidates by the AEC.

The people who didn't want to join ON but were prepared to vote for it are not interested in feeling sorry for people who had the chance of a lifetime but blew it. They are NOT interested in conspiracy theories, red lights or whingers. They want someone to pick up the baton that Pauline Hanson dropped after the maiden speech.

Another matter of accountability. Cheyenne MacLeod is Pauline's personal assistant and general factotum. Who pays her salary?

Australian Story

I watched the interview on Australian story ABC about Pauline Hanson , I must say it is the best interview any media group has done with her , If only some of the other main stream media groups would treat her with the respect she deserves, and concentrate on what she is trying to say and show that she is a woman with guts and a woman that cares about our country, rather than distorting and or manipulating her words to make her look as bad as they possibly can . May be then the idiots that say she is a racist will the opportunity to stop and think about what she is trying to say , and think hey!, she has some good points .

Keep up the good work

Kurds and others

Dear Scott,

Where is the condemnation along the same lines as handed out to One nation, of these people who bring their politics to Australia? Are the Kurds so important that they are tiptoed around while one million Australians (1/12 of the vote) are vilified for peaceable verbal expressions of dissatisfaction at the way Australia is heading?

I give all the demonstrators and other anti- ON people just three years and they will realise they were so very very wrong in their judgements on Oct 3rd 1998 but it will then be too late to reverse the harm they have done to this country that our Christian forefathers sweated to carve into the "Lucky Country" as someone once described it. My family history tells me it was not luck, just sheer hard work and tenacity.

Many thanks to A F for bringing foreward my opinion that if England had not colonized Australia then there would be no Aboriginies left. May I also add to that, that since the Asian refugees can make the shores of Australia so easily in their boats now that they most certainly knew Australia was here before we ever came along and they just put it in the too hard basket.

Can I also add to A F's list Japan, Indonesia and China as potential murders of the indigenous folk. I believe China did it to thiers.

Immigration to Australia

Dear Scott,

Con Sciacca, Labors shadow Minister for Immigration, called today for a dramatic increase in Australia's immigration intake. Initially suggesting a 43,000 / year increase. Citing that an emphasis should be placed on immigrants with the skills and capital to finance growth in business and to "revitalise regional Australia" .He further stated that an increase in our migrant intake would '' value add to this country". Sciacca cited Australia's aging population and declining birthrates as potentially placing a huge burden on welfare and on our national and community resources by the year 2020.

Sciacca was a member of the Hawke / Keating Labor government whose policies over 13 years did much to contribute towards the ''devitalisation'' of Australia's once prosperous regional communities and in contributing to the decimation of our manufacturing sector through deregulation and reductions in tariff protection. Perhaps Mr. Sciacca should "please explain " his parties failure in their term of office to protect these once productive industries. Perhaps Mr. Sciacca could also explain why in a country with high youth unemployment, youth suicide and an explosive drug problem that we as a country have failed to produce youth with the necessary skills to be absorbed into the workforce and take advantage of these opportunities ?

Maybe we have a failure in our education system which needs to be addressed first Mr. Sciacca.

Mr. Sciacca may also need to "please explain" why workers presently contributing ( along with their employers ) through compulsory superannuation towards their own retirement, are in the year 2020 going to be such a burden on government. It was claimed by Keating that through compulsory super (pay rises deferred and offset as a perceived future, self funded, pension scheme ) that governments of the future would be effectively relieved of much of its obligations in providing pensions to the retired.

Is this an admission that the $360 billion superannuation industry, so created, is not going to work? With $360 billion of Australian workers money currently being used in speculative investments on the stockmarket, and in foreign investment, which effectively makes contributors major non consultative investors and shareholders in this countries business's and corporations and its future development. To what extent has this $360 billion investment by Australian workers contributed to the Australian stockmarkets resilience in the wake of the Asian financial meltdown?

Perhaps, Mr. Sciacca, these funds could be better utilised. Maybe we could use these massive funds to invest and aid in revitalising our depressed rural and manufacturing industries. Couldn't we better utilise these resources , Mr. Sciacca ? Perhaps by re-establishing a peoples bank, similar to the old Commonwealth Bank ( before Keating privatised it ), lending at low interest rates to our own entrepreneurs. Invest these funds in the infra-structure to promote growth and development rather than having to hock this countries assets and resources to cover government debt and failure.

Low birthrates, Mr. Sciacca ? Perhaps if we were to analise the recent trends towards families with both parents having to work to maintain a standard of living and why the increasingly heavier burden of taxation falls upon the pockets of consumers and on PAYE taxpayers who have subsidised the multi nationals as a result of the policies of your "workers party". Policies implemented over 13 years in government. That has allowed and encouraged these multi nationals and currency speculators to transfer profits and unpaid taxes offshore at our expense. With a more equitable tax system in which everyone pays a fair share of the burden maybe we will find a resulting increase in the birthrate of this country without needing to increase immigration.

It is also interesting to hear the calls of Jeff Kennett , Kim Beasley, Howard and representatives of business calling for an open debate on the subject of immigration. Does this also include an open discussion on multiculturalism? Of the effects upon the community that absorbs these immigrants. The extra strain on natural resources, welfare, added pollution, on our hospitals and on other basic infrastructures that are already overburdened and underfunded.

With a federal election just recently held it is now history that attempts by ON to introduce our countries immigration policy as an open issue for debate, were suppressed, ridiculed and ignored.

It is also interesting to view the Sciacca proposition in the light of the leaking of Peter Reith's discussion paper on proposed work place reforms. Work for the dole schemes and his proposal to lower unemployment levels by cutting minimum wages and abolishing the traditional avenues for arbitration between unions and employers. Maybe Peter Reith would agree with Mr. Sciacca and his ideas. Increasing our pool of unemployed and under-employed would increase competition amongst the workforce and aid for an easier implementation of the Reith agenda.

Perhaps there are other motives behind Sciacca's proposal. Australia being a vast continent, rich in natural resources and a relatively under-developed country in comparison with some of the more over populated countries in the world. Perhaps in that light consider some of these following statements from participants in the United Nations Cairo conference on Environment and Population and from its predecessor the 1992 RIO EARTH SUMMIT on Environment and Population. These sentiments and ideologies have since been incorporated into the UN Reform agenda.

What now for the One Nation party?

It seems that the disrupters and the agent-provocateurs have succeded to a greater or lesser extent in neutralising the third biggest political party in this country.

What does the future hold for One Nation Party supporters and other patriotic Australians? Surely, it is time to recognise that we cannot beat the multinationals, the media and the bi-partisan government at the game of politics.

V.I.Lenin urged his supporters to heavily infiltrate all levels of society (education, media, police, military, regional and local governments, courts, factories and offices) Perhaps this should be the aim for One Nation Party supporters, who should realise by now that the globalist-multinational-media controllers of society will not relinquish power easily(the Federal election was the case study in that!) What we are looking at here is a revolution...maybe even an Argentinian-style 'dirty war'. I leave the rest up to yr imaginations........

cheers!
