National Party comes clean - "we fear One Nation".
Ken Crooke who just days ago said that One Nation was not a threat to the National Party in the bush has suddenly woken up and discovered how wrong he is. Maybe he bothered to phone a few farmers to get reactions to One Nation - but I doubt we will ever know.
His comment yesterday that Federal Coalition government risked losing an election based on a double dissolution over Wik. His views are supported by former National Party leader Doug Anthony who cautioned the Coalition about going to an election over Wik.
"A (Wik election) would become racial, you have hotheads on both sides who would create divisions, polarise sections of the community in a way which I wouldn't like to see," said Anthony.
Reading between the lines you don't have to be an Einstein to see that the National's heavyweights understand that Pauline Hanson's One Nation is set to take over in the bush - their traditional heartland that they have let down so badly.
More in the Korean tourism collapse.
QANTAS yesterday cancelled all flights to South Korea after jumbo jets from Seoul returned with just seven passengers on board.
This follows the collapse of the country's currency. Visitors from South Korea to Australia are only topped by tourist numbers from Japan.
The other major market expected to face a dramatic downturn is Asian students studying in Australia.
Today's article headed: "Why Pauline Hanson can't win in Oxley or Blair" in News Limited's Courier Mail is typical of the misinformation that they push:
Extract:
"The House of Representatives had been dissolved on January 29 and nominations had closed on February 9. Her disendorsement on February 15 placed her very much into a best-of-both-worlds situation. Without a Liberal opponent, with a paradoxical blessing of the partys disendorsement and in an anti-Keating atmosphere she was odds-on to enjoy a fluke win."
The story comes with the now traditional distorted cartoon image of Hanson.
I am keeping this article on file so that when Hanson wins later this year we can pull it out and drag it around the place....
Another perfect day in paradise.
Photos below taken of the Brisbane river at the bottom of our property at about 8am this morning.
Left to right: The crystal clear waters of the Brisbane river below the jetty; some large fish swim upstream and a Brisbane river turtle has a look at what's going on.
Have a good one.
