When the URL is keyed into the web browser you are meta linked to the Official Egyptian Tourism Page through a subdirectory on the http://bikini.net web site - "Bikinis are wee - the official capital of bikinis on the net". Surprise, surprise the developer of this site, Intercity Oz Inc, also developed the Official site of the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt at: http://interoz.com/egypt/.
And what does President Mubarak have to say about the web site? "I admit what has already been fulfilled represents but a beginning of a major tourist boom in Egypt. We have to pursue all channels and firmly set out goals to be fully successful."
Great stuff Mr President but girly pictures leading people to the country's official tourist site?
Seems strange to me but there again it could just be a smart (or maybe dumb) way of pushing up the traffic to this site....
A former accountant of the West Australian Labor Party told a court yesterday that he did not keep tabs on millions of dollars of donations to an account controlled by former Premier Brian Burke.
George Kafkaris told the Perth District Court that it was not his role to check the substantial sums which went into the "leaders account".
Kafkaris told the court he was not aware if Burke took money out of the leaders account to buy gold bullion or stamps. The court heard that about Au$5 million was passed on to the Australian Labor Party from the leaders account between 1982 and 1987.
Kafkaris said that he never detailed the donations made to the leaders account because it was "never suggested" to him that the donations were the party's funds.
Fischer said, "At this stage the body of evidence, the weight of opinion, is pointing to clear cut legislation, there are no soft options.
"Australians, including Australians in the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and Sydney must remember that an effective land title system is an absolute cornerstone for economic activity that helps to ensure that they maintain a good standard of living."
The National Party push follows comments from backbenchers that the Liberal Party is moving to slowly in responding to the Wik judgement.
In response Aboriginal activist Noel Pearson said the Howard government should not play "slimy political games" and said that the National Party wanted to treat Aboriginals like "feral animals".
However, Pearson went on to say, "John Howard's handling of the gun issue was an example of his negotiating skill and leadership. The Wik issue is even a bigger challenge than the gun debate and I harbour some hope that the Federal Government can facilitate it.
"With the Government facilitating the process, rather than the Queensland style of dictating, then the process by the Prime Minister is one we should participate in vigorously.
"The opportunity ought to be grasped, as it has by the Aboriginal side, by other sectors of the community.
"It seems to me that people ought to feel it worth putting their energy into the round-table process to see if we can work out a compromise."
The Wik Issue has prompted one of the old rabble rousers to come to the fore.... once again threatening to disrupt the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
