Son of Wilson Fittipaldi, a famous Brazilian motorsport journalist and commentator. Brother Wilson Jr was also an F1 competitor during the 1970s. Candid in comparisons of IndyCar scene to Formula One saying: "American attitude and mentality towards sports is more easy going. The ambience is more relaxed, but very competitive." Calls adjusting to oval track the hardest part of IndyCar racing- especially the short ovals. At age 15 worked as Kart mechanic before moving to racing, motorbikes and karts. Early racing idols include Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark and Graham Hill. Owns 500,000 acre orange tree plantation and exports orange concentrate to USA, Europe and Asia. Also has Mercedes Benz dealership in Brazil and is a partner in Hugo Boss fashion retailers in Brazil. Has opened the first licensed Hugo Boss franchise in the US in Miami, Florida. First designed Formula One type hand sewn steering wheel for his mother's car at age 17 in 1965. Now owns Fittipaldi Motor Accessories offering personalised line of fashion and motoring items, Involved in bringing "live" television coverage of IndyCar events to Brazil. If not a racer he would be a fighter pilot. Speaks five languages fluently: English, French, Spanish, Italian and his native Portuguese. Dislikes driving on freeways.
