Racing Career:
Began racing Karts in 1985 and won the 2 hours at Interlagos.
1986 - Competed in the Brazilian championship - placed third. Competed in Sao Paulo championship - placed second.
1987 - Won the 2 hours of Interlagos. Placed second in the Brazilian championships and the Sao Paulo championship.
1988 - Placed second in Sao Paulo championship and won the 2 hour of Rio de Janiero with Christian Fittipaldi.
1989 - Competed for Bruno Minelli in the Brazilian Formula Ford championship, placed third in point standings.
1990 - Competed in the Formula One European championship for Team Lotus Nederland. Best finish was a second place at Donington Park. Competed in the National Cup with Rubens Barrichello at Spa-Francorchamps helping the Brazilian team finish second.
1991 - Ran a partial season in the British Formula 3 championship for Paul Stewart Racing. Best finish was third at Donington.
1992 - Returned to Paul Stewart Racing to compete in the British Formula 3 championship. Finished tenth in the championship. Best finish was third at Silverstone.
1993 - Drove for Fortec Motorsports in the British Formula 3 championship. Had four podium finishes and claimed two poles. Finished fifth in points.
1994 - Drove for Tasman Motorsports Group in the PPG-Firestone Indy Lights championship. Finished second in the championship. Won Rookie of the Year honours. Won races at Portland, Mid-Ohio, Vancouver and Laguna Seca. Claimed four pole positions.
